My Experience of Dental Amalgam Removal

People seek dental amalgam removal for a variety of reasons, often related to health, aesthetics, or environmental concerns.

Through my experience, I write here some tips on what you need to know and prepare before and after dental amalgam removal.

#1 - Why do people consider dental amalgam removal?

People seek dental amalgam removal for a variety of reasons, often related to health, aesthetics, or environmental concerns. Here are some of the main motivations:

1. Health Concerns

  • Mercury Exposure: Dental amalgam fillings contain about 50% elemental mercury, along with silver, tin, and copper. Some people worry about the potential for mercury exposure from these fillings, as mercury vapour can be released through wear, grinding, or chewing. Mercury is toxic at high levels, and although studies show low levels of exposure from amalgam, some individuals prefer to eliminate any possible sources of mercury from their bodies.

  • Allergies and Sensitivities: A small percentage of people are allergic or sensitive to metals, including mercury, and may experience local or systemic reactions from amalgam fillings. These individuals may remove amalgam to relieve symptoms or as a preventive measure.

  • Chronic Illnesses: Some people with autoimmune or chronic conditions, such as multiple sclerosis or chronic fatigue syndrome, choose to remove amalgam fillings because of the long-term effects on their health.

2. Aesthetic Preferences

  • Appearance: Amalgam fillings are dark silver or grey and can be visible in the mouth, especially on back teeth. People seeking a more natural appearance may prefer tooth-coloured materials like composite resins or ceramic fillings that blend better with the natural colour of teeth.

3. Environmental and Ethical Concerns

  • Environmental Impact of Mercury: Mercury from dental amalgam can enter the environment through dental clinic waste, as well as through the cremation or burial of individuals with amalgam fillings. Some people choose removal to reduce their personal contribution to environmental mercury.

  • Preference for Biocompatible Materials: Some individuals prefer dental materials that are seen as more biocompatible or less toxic than amalgam. They may choose composite resins, porcelain, or gold as alternatives.

4. Guidelines and Recommendations

  • Shifting Health Guidelines: Some countries and organizations, including the European Union, recommend limiting or phasing out the use of amalgam, particularly for children and pregnant women. While it’s still used in many places due to its durability and low cost, these guidelines have influenced individuals to opt for removal.

  • Preventive Measures: Some people prefer to have amalgam removed as a preventive measure to avoid potential risks, even if they do not currently experience any symptoms.

My reason was a health concern because my result of the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis showed it contained a certain amount of mercury and aluminium.

#2 - Before the removal

The removal process itself involves considerations for safety, as improper removal can release mercury vapour. Dentists who specialize in amalgam removal often use protective protocols to reduce exposure, like rubber dams, high-volume suction, and oxygen masks.

Before removal, it’s advised to consult with a dentist experienced in amalgam removal and to understand the risks and benefits based on individual health and preferences.

I support my liver by drinking Celery juice every morning and keeping a healthy lifestyle for maximum elimination results.

My dentist advised me to get some supplements before the amalgam removal.

  • Vitamin C 1000mg three times daily

  • Zinc 50mg per day

  • Selenium 200mcg per day

for at least five days.

Vitamin C is a great antioxidant to protect from the inflammations from the toxins.

Zinc reduces heavy metals uptake and causes immobilisation and chelation of heavy metals.

Studies have found that selenium has antioxidant properties and can protect animals and humans from the harm of heavy metals.

I bought

Biocare Liposomal Vitamin C

Terranova Zinc 15mg

Terranova Selenium 200microgram

from Natural Dispensary, which I recommend to my clients all the time.

My homeopath also advised me to take

  • Dental amalgam 30c 1 pill daily for 14 days

  • Zeolite, as directed on the bottle for one month: Zeolite is removing metals such as Cadmium and Lead

I purchased Zeorite from the link below. A homeopath Clare Phillips is supplying the product.

#3 - During the removal

The dentist was carefully prepared when it came to amalgam removal.

  1. Cover your hair with a net, wear plastic smog and safety glasses

  2. Chew and drink a charcoal tablet (in case mercury gets into your body, it will absorb it and expel it)

  3. Rinse your mouth twice with water mixed with charcoal for 30 seconds (so that anything stuck in your mouth will be absorbed by the charcoal)

  4. A rubber sheet (Rubber Dam) is attached to the mouth to create a barrier to prevent silver tooth fragments from getting stuck in the mouth or being swallowed.

  5. Because the area around the nose is covered with rubber, an oxygen tube is attached to the nose.

  6. Start of dental amalgam removal

  7. Add the white filling and that's it.

Three dental amalgams were removed. I did it all at once and finished in about an hour and a half.

During the treatment, the room was turned on an air purifier to remove any scattered mercury.

#4 - After the removal

I decided to follow the Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie recipe by Medical Medium.

The recipe is full of ingredients that help remove heavy metals, such as spirulina and coriander. Wild Blueberries are also available frozen at Ocado, and other ingredients are available at Natural Dispensary.

The recipe is from the button below.

#5 - Conclusion

After three months of detox smoothie and taking other recommended supplements and remedies, I waited to grow my hair for more than three months and sent my hair for the Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis test.

The result was magnificent! My result was hugely improved (I still have a tiny trace).
