Why do we have a fever?

〜The body's wisdom〜

Fever is a common symptom that occurs when the body raises its temperature above the normal range (about 98.6°F or 37°C). It is usually a sign that the body is fighting an infection or illness. Here’s why fever happens:

#1 - Immune Response

When the body detects harmful invaders like bacteria, viruses, or other pathogens, the immune system activates.

White blood cells release chemicals called pyrogens, which signal the brain’s hypothalamus (the part of the brain that controls body temperature) to increase the body’s temperature.

#2 - Inhibiting Pathogen Growth

Many pathogens that cause infections thrive at normal body temperature. By raising the temperature, the body creates an environment that is less favourable for these invaders to survive and replicate.

#3 - Enhancing Immune Function

Higher body temperatures can improve the efficiency of the immune system, including increasing the activity of white blood cells and the production of antibodies. This helps the body fight off the infection more effectively.

#4 - Inflammatory Response

Fever often accompanies inflammation, which is the body's response to injury or infection. Inflammation can also produce pyrogens, leading to an increase in body temperature.

#5 - Management

When fever is due to a mild acute cause such as influenza, upper respiratory tract illness, or pharyngitis, we often face fever as an important part of the symptoms. A fever is a sign that your body is fighting viruses and bacteria. They're trying to use heat to kill the bad stuff. Fever, especially in young children, can be a cause for concern, but children's bodies are learning how to fight off the fever.

If you try to stop this problem easily with antipyretics, the child's immune system will never learn the lesson and will continue to produce fevers until they learn how to fight.

In order to prescribe homeopathy accurately, clear symptoms are necessary. This entails waiting for the fever and accompanying symptoms to manifest before determining the appropriate treatment.

If there is no history of febrile seizures, the patient tolerates the illness and the symptoms are not too severe, a fever of up to 39.5°C should be observed.

On the other hand, if the patient has a number of other symptoms such as pain, headache, and lethargy, it is clear that homeopathic remedies are probably appropriate. If a patient has a high fever but no other symptoms, please observe the symptoms.

  • Adequate fluid intake is an essential part of the treatment for any fever.

  • Sponge baths may help some patients but must not be done excessively.

  • Artificially lowering a fever by the use of over-the-counter antipyretics may prolong the course of the disease.

  • Any fever in newborns (up to six weeks) is a serious sign and requires examination by a physician familiar with this age group.

#7 - Conclusions

While fever is typically a protective mechanism, it can sometimes become harmful if it gets too high or lasts too long, requiring medical attention.

If you have a high fever for more than 48 hours, please visit your doctor immediately. It is better to check there are no complications like Meningitis, Strep infection etc.

The secret is:

Catching a cold or having a fever is believed to help detoxify the body's lymphatic system. It is normal for adults to catch a cold or have a fever once or twice a year.

Always try to strengthen your body by consuming vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, and, if necessary, foods and supplements with antioxidant properties.

If you develop a fever, don't panic. Keep the above information in mind and respond calmly.
